Founding partner Buzz Durio specializes in selected commercial business cases. With 37 years of legal proceedings in areas including business and commercial litigations; banking and financial institutions; mergers and acquisitions; and shareholder rights, he has conducted trials, appeals, arbitrations, mediations, review panels, and administrative hearings in city, parish, state, and federal trial and appellate courts. After receiving a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University in 1977, Buzz received his Juris Doctor from the University’s Paul M. Hebert School of Law.
Buzz has been involved as a member, on committees and in leadership positions in the Louisiana State Bar Association since 1980. He is the immediate past treasurer and member of the Board of Governors of the State Association. As a tribute to his service, the Louisiana State Bar awarded him the Stephen T. Victory Memorial Award (2010) and the President’s Award (1999, 2004). Buzz is a member of the Bar of the Louisiana Supreme Court, the United States Supreme Court, the Eastern Middle, and Western Districts of the United States District Court, the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Court of Appeals Federal Circuit. He is also involved with the Public Investors Arbitration Bar Association, is a member and fellow of the Louisiana Bar Foundation, American Bar Association and was named a Louisiana Super Lawyer with a Martindale Hubble Peer Review Rating of AV Preeminent 5.0 out of 5.0. Buzz’s work has been published in the Louisiana Bar Journal, the Lafayette Parish Bar Association’s Promulgator, the National Business Institute Inc. and Louisiana Law Review. The legal community respects Buzz’s expertise and has asked him to present to his peers on topics including “Sales of an Interest in Law Firms” and “Business Torts.”
An Eagle Scout, Buzz is loyal to the Evangeline Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America serving in various capacities from Assistant Scout Master to District Chairman and currently serves on the organization’s Executive Committee as VP-Properties. He has volunteered as a coach for soccer, t-ball and baseball. He and his wife, Renee Abadie Durio, are dedicated to Our Lady of Wisdom and Fatima Catholic Churches and have three sons and one grandson.
